# Calculating Weight in a Corrugated box.

While this may not apply to every single box, finding the right weight and strength of a corrugated box will lower the costs for a business, and it could mean a difference in profit margins.  Corrugated boxes have three different paper layers: the inner liner, outside liner, and the fluting which runs between this. You may want to look into this since this method is actually good for providing extra strength needed to hold this product and protect it.

The material is where the strength is.  The strength is related to the density, in that the more walls a box has, the stronger it is. The sta,p onside will tell you whether it’s single, double, or triple walled to tell you the strength. Due to the fact that corrugated boxes are not made the same, both inner and outer dimensions vary, sot the weight the box will carry will vary, and the box size will allow for you to figure out the logistics and the supply chain management, but also won’t affect the strength of the box overall.

While it may be tempting to simply measure this, the longest dimension opening, and the width and depth are the ones that you need to focus.

You want ideally to have proportions of 2:1:2, but some have different dimensions, and you can also figure out the dimensions of this by the ECT, or edge-crush test, which is the measure of the strength of a box. it’s measured by compressing a small segment of this between two plates in the perpendicular direction of the flutes until the peak load is established. Compared to previous standards, this uses fewer raw materials, lower energy requirements, and reduced pollution, and it works in all stage s fo the life cycle of the package, and the weight that’s calculated is essential because you’ll want to look for the one that can hold a lot.

So for example, if you see on the ECT 32 for example, that means it can hold 30 pounds.  The most a single-walled box can hold is 65. in contrast, for double-walled, the largest that it can be on the ECT is 82, which means it can hold up to 140 pounds.

These are based on calculations, and from there, you can determine whether you need single or double walled.

If you’re working with small, lightweight products, you won’t’ need something that is high on the ECT, but you can go low on that. In contrast, if you’re selling large, substantial part,s you’ll want to go bigger with this, and the decisions for how much product is there is determined by what you choose to use., you should figure out what box best first your needs, and from there, make the right financial decisions, so that you can, in turn, create the best and most worthwhile boxes that are possible, and you can get the boxes that fit your budget, save you money, and ensure quality products.
