Why Shrink Film isn’t for Everyone

Shrink film is one of the more common packaging materials, but it isn’t for everyone. The thing is, using it in specific products actually will lead to safety issues, not to mention headaches. We can tell you right now that it’s not a good fit for certain applications, and we’ll go over what those are, and why they aren’t really ideal for this. while this is a high grossing product, you need to understand there are times when you should and shouldn’t use it.

Interactive products for starters don’t do well with this. that’s because it will usually get punctured. For example, toys that have the “push me” option on this won’t actually do well with this. the person wants to try it out, and if a customer sees that, they’ll try it. Shrink film prevents them from interacting with it, and it might deter people from wanting to buy a product. Thus, for interactive toys it’s best not to use this kind of packaging on this.

If the product needs to breathe or it requires air or oxygen, don’t use shrink film. It doesn’t breathe well. It’s very poor unless you get the kind with perforations, which cost a lot more. When packaging, you should make sure to not use shrink film with perishable foods or anything that requires oxygen to main freshness.

Shrink film also costs a lot, and if it is a smaller operation, it might be a lot for some places. In some efforts, it might cost a couple of grand, and it definitely isn’t ideal for a smaller business venture.

Heat sensitive products also aren’t good for this.  it can cause issues with the products and it might hurt the product. If you’re unsure, you can run your product through a heat tunnel and tape the tapes to your product.  You will then get a notification on whether or not this will work for the shrink film based on what is reacting.  You should consider this if you’ve thought about using shrink film, but you’re not sure if this is the ideal thing, and it may not work for you.

It isn’t right for everything, and this is not a universal form of packaging. Those that need exposure, that don’t do well with heat, or need to be interacted with should refrain from using this. when trying to figure out the product and the shrink film, you should get an analysis done by a local packaging expert, and you can from there decide if the packaging materials work for the product or not, and it helps you choose the right vendor and materials that work for you.

Shrink film is highly praised for the wide variety of uses, but for some businesses, especially startup businesses, this might not be right for you, and if you’re not sure on whether or not this is the right thing for your company, or maybe you need advice on what type of product you should use, you should consult a local packaging expert to help you.
